What Is Paint Protection Film?
Paint Protection Film (PPF) is a clear, self-healing urethane film applied directly over your vehicle's painted surfaces. It's the same technology originally developed for military helicopter rotor blades. Engineered to absorb impact from debris that would otherwise chip, scratch, or crack the surface underneath. Today, it's the gold standard for protecting expensive paint on luxury, exotic, and daily-driver vehicles alike.
PPF is optically clear in its standard form. Virtually invisible from a few feet away. It doesn't change the color, gloss, or feel of your paint; it just adds an armor layer over it. A satin-finish version is also available if you want to convert your gloss paint to a satin look without permanent paint changes.
Why Oklahoma City Vehicles Need PPF
Oklahoma's roads are uniquely hard on automotive paint. Three reasons:
- Highway debris: I-35, I-40, I-44, and I-240 see constant construction, gravel hauling, and aggregate trucks. Rock chips on the front bumper, hood, and fenders are nearly inevitable for any daily highway driver.
- Hail seasons: Oklahoma averages multiple severe weather events per year. While PPF won't stop a softball-sized hailstone, it does absorb minor hail impacts that would otherwise dimple paint.
- UV intensity: Oklahoma sees 235+ sunny days per year with summer UV index regularly hitting 10+. Constant UV exposure oxidizes paint, fades color, and breaks down clear coats. PPF acts as a UV barrier.
For high-mileage daily drivers and weekend collector cars alike, PPF is the difference between paint that looks new at year five and paint that needs reconditioning by year three.
PPF Coverage Options
You don't have to PPF your entire vehicle. Most clients pick coverage based on impact zones. The areas most likely to take damage from highway debris.
Partial Front
$1,000+
Hood leading edge, fender tips, mirrors, front bumper.
Full Front
$2,000+
Full hood, full fenders, mirrors, full bumper, A-pillars.
Full Body
$5,000+
100% paint coverage. Best for luxury, exotic, and collector cars.
Add-ons include rocker panel protection ($300–$500), door cup protectors ($150), windshield-edge film ($200), and headlight PPF ($250 per pair). For daily-driver sedans and SUVs, the Full Front package is the most popular choice. It covers everything that takes daily highway abuse.
PPF vs. Ceramic Coating. What's the Difference?
These get confused all the time. Here's the practical difference:
- PPF is a physical film. A urethane barrier that absorbs impact and protects against rock chips, scratches, and UV.
- Ceramic coating is a liquid hydrophobic layer that bonds to the paint. It makes water bead, dirt slide off, and adds gloss. It does NOT protect against impacts.
The ideal setup is PPF first (for impact protection), then ceramic coating on top of the PPF (for hydrophobic easy-cleaning properties). We can install both as a combo package, or just whichever one fits your goals.
The PPF Installation Process
PPF is the most demanding install in the entire wrap industry. Here's how we do it:
Step 1. Decontamination Wash
The vehicle gets a full chemical and clay-bar decontamination to lift embedded contaminants from the paint surface. PPF will trap whatever is on the paint underneath, so this step is non-negotiable.
Step 2. Paint Correction (if needed)
If there are existing swirl marks, oxidation, or light scratches, we recommend paint correction before PPF install. PPF will magnify and lock in any imperfections that exist on the paint surface.
Step 3. Computer-Cut Pattern
We pull your exact vehicle's PPF pattern from our software library and plot-cut the film on a CNC cutter. No hand-trimming on painted panels. That's how shops scratch your paint with razor blades.
Step 4. Wet Application & Squeegee
The film is applied with a slip solution, positioned exactly, then squeegeed and heat-set to bond. This is where experience matters. Proper edge tucking and seam alignment is what separates a good PPF job from a great one.
Step 5. 24-Hour Cure
The film needs 24 hours undisturbed to fully bond. We hold the vehicle overnight and inspect again before pickup the next day.
How Long Does PPF Last?
Premium PPF (the cast urethane films we use) is rated for 7–10 years. Cheap calendered PPF. The budget knockoffs sold by some shops. Yellows and bubbles within 2 years. The film is the bulk of your investment, so always confirm what brand and grade is being installed before you book.
Why Choose Us
Why Oklahoma City Trusts Us
Premium Cast PPF Only
We use premium cast urethane PPF rated 7–10 years, not the cheap calendered knockoffs that yellow within 2 years. The film is the bulk of your PPF investment; we don't compromise on which brand goes onto your vehicle.
Computer-Cut Patterns
Every vehicle's PPF is pulled from a software library and plot-cut on a CNC cutter for an exact fit. No hand-trimming with razor blades on painted panels. That's the #1 way bad shops scratch your paint during install.
1-Year Install Warranty
We back our installation work with a 1-year warranty against bubbling, peeling, and edge lifting. The PPF film itself carries the manufacturer's 7–10 year warranty against yellowing and discoloration.

FAQ
Paint Protection Film FAQ
Is PPF noticeable on the vehicle?
Premium gloss PPF is virtually invisible. Most people will never know it's there. Matte-finish PPF gives a subtle satin look on top of glossy paint, which is increasingly popular as an aesthetic choice. From arm's length, gloss PPF is undetectable on factory paint.
Can PPF be removed later?
Yes. By a professional. Done correctly, the film comes off cleanly and the paint underneath is pristine, often in better condition than unprotected paint due to years of UV protection. DIY removal is risky and can pull paint with the film.
Does PPF prevent all scratches?
PPF protects against rock chips, light scratches, swirl marks, and minor abrasions, and self-healing technology means most light damage disappears with sun exposure or warm water. Deep key scratches and sharp impacts can still penetrate, but they damage the film instead of the paint underneath.
Can I combine PPF with a vinyl wrap?
Yes. Many high-end clients install PPF on the front end (hood, fenders, bumper) for impact protection, then wrap the rest of the vehicle for color change or design. This combo gives you both protection where it matters and full visual customization.
How do I wash a PPF-covered vehicle?
Same as regular paint. PH-neutral car soap, soft microfiber mitt, no automated brush car washes. Avoid pressure-washing directly at film edges. PPF is actually easier to keep clean than bare paint because of its hydrophobic top coat.
